Forced break, test to be run

After some discussion with my nurse yesterday of me wanting to have a consult with RE ASAP, I got a response from RE today (via nurse).

History Summary - 2.5 yrs TTC - 1.5 yrs w/ RE - 8 IUIs, 1st resulted in pregnancy, m/c @ 5 wks - slightly low morphology - abnormal CM - all cycles are "perfect" (great follicles, great levels, good samples, etc)

She wants us to take a break this cycle to run some tests. She wants me to get CA125 test, which will indicate endometriosis if levels too high. Then she wants DH to bloodwork too to test for sperm antibody, and have his sampled tested for acrosome reaction.

So, if either of his test come back bad, then we are straight to IVF. If I have endo, then 3 mo of monthly meds (forgot name) and then, if levels have regulated, back to IUI (at least 2 more tries).

::sigh:: I was actually very motivated to start this cycle. I was totally freaking out when I got the BFN b/c I didn't think I had the strength / courage to do it all again! But something inside told me just to move along. Now, during the holidays, break. GGRR I guess I can enjoy the holidays w/ some wine and not worry about interfering with anything... gotta look at the upside, right?!

Oh, and since I thought I was going to start cycling this Sunday, I had my best friend overnight me all her extra medicines that she had saved up for me! They arrived on time, but I won't be using them for some time. She just did her first IVF cycle, and she's now waiting for her bloodwork. She has the best insurance... all her IVF procedures and medicines are covered 100%! So she had some extra meds, she passed along to me... isn't she amazing?!

Martini party recap

We had a great time. The turnout wasn't as high as I expected, but we did increase our paid members by 3 (which is a huge deal in the alumni world). We had lots of food leftover, and a little bit of booze. The pomegranate martini was the hit of the party! A few chocolate martinis were made as a dessert, along with the chocolate cake.

We don't just party all the time! We had a collection of baby items that will be donated to a local woman's shelter. Lots was collected (didn't catch a photo of the total goods)

Enjoying martinis (I'm on the far right)

Group picture (again, I'm on the far right sitting on armrest)

Shopping weekend up ahead

Last month, I went on a shopping expedition with MIL, her sister (FH's aunt/godmother) and FH's cousin. We headed north to a fantastic mall... Aventura. The mall is huge, and has 2 floors! It truly is a shopaholic's delight. Well, all 4 of us belong in a shopaholic anonymous organization, but we do love to shop! We had such a blast. I picked up everyone bright and early (@10am) and we didn't get home until about sunset. We laughed a lot, and window shopped some, and shopped some more.

Well, we are at it again. This Saturday, we are headed to an outlet mall 1.25 hrs away, near Naples. It is one of the best outlet malls I've visited... Miromar, off of exit 123 on I75. And FH is joining us. He's a closet shopaholic... he's most excited about the Columbia store! LOL The plan is to have breakfast together (all 5 of us) and then head out on our adventure. We plan on getting a head start on our Christmas shopping... hopefully I actually buy gifts for others, as opposed to for myself (which tends to happen, often). I can't wait!

Martini Party

Remember a couple of months ago I mentioned I was hosting a martini party for my sorority alumni chapter? Well, guess what? It is today! Yup, and you know I'll be having a drink, or three to drown my sorrows.
I've bought tiny quiche for appetizers, and yesterday MIL gave me some spinach dip she had leftover, and SIL gave me an untouched cake for tonight's dessert (yesterday was nephew's bday, and there was lots leftover). A few ladies attending are also bringing some appetizers. So that all covers the munchies. And for the martinis, well I got 2 mixers: apple and pomegranate. I also bought ingredients to prepare chocolate martini, dry martini, and dirty martinis. That should cover it all, right?! Please say yes because I don't' have time to buy anything else!
Hopefully it will be a success, just like my other parties (not tooting my own horn, but I always get lots of compliments). LOL
Confession - I have to leave work early to clean the floors at home. I was to sad last night to do it. It isn't terrible... just the kitchen needs some help.
Hopefully post some pictures this week.

BFFN

Yup, I tested last night, and got that disappointing news I've gotten the past 2.5 yrs (except for the one time that, well, didn't end so great). And of course this AM, I started to spot. Wonderful start to the holiday season I tell you. I called in the AM for an appointment with my RE to discuss options. I don't know yet if I can emotionally go through with another cycle (basically, another disappointment), but want to know what she opines... why the F hasn't her treatments been working? Am I broken? Hopefully they can squeeze me in tomorrow because if I do decide to try again in Dec, I need the meds ASAP (I would start Sunday, assuming baseline u/s and b/w came back clear).

On the up side, I think I may have gotten convinced to go skiing at the end of Dec, for NYE! He's never gone, and well, it would def get our minds off the disappointment and excited for something fun to come. I'll keep you posted on that.

Holy Progestrone!

I had bloodwork done this morning, and my progesterone came back at 52.03! Anything over 15 is ideal for a medicated cycle, like mine.
::keeping fingers crossed::

Friday Funny!

Old Timers Sex

The husband leans over and asks his wife,
'Do you remember the first time we had sex together over
fifty years ago?

We went behind the village tavern where you leaned against the back fence and I made love to you.'

'Yes', she says, 'I remember it well.'

'OK,' he says, 'How about taking a stroll around there again and we can do it for old time's sake?'

'Oh Jim, you old devil, that sounds like a crazy, but good idea!'

A police officer sitting in the next booth heard their conversation

and, having a chuckle to himself, he thinks to himself, I've got to see these two old-timers having sex against a fence.

I'll just keep an eye on them so there's no trouble.

So he follows them.

The elderly couple walks haltingly along, leaning on each other for support aided by walking sticks.

Finally, they get to the back of the tavern and make their way to the fence.

The old lady lifts her skirt and the old man drops his trousers.

As she leans against the fence, the old man moves in.

Then suddenly they erupt into the most furious sex that the policeman has ever seen.

This goes on for about ten minutes while both are making loud noises
and moaning and screaming.

Finally, they both collapse, panting on the ground.

The policeman is amazed.

He thinks he has learned something about life and old age that he didn't know.

After about half an hour of lying on the ground recovering,
the old couple struggles to their feet and puts their clothes back on.

The policeman, is still watching and thinks to himself,
this is truly amazing, I've got to ask them what their secret is.

So, as the couple passes, he says to them,

'Excuse me, but that was something else.

You must've had a fantastic sex life together.

Is there some sort of secret to this?'

Shaking, the old man is barely able to reply,

'Fifty years ago that wasn't an electric fence
